Welcome to the 2018/19 school year
Hi everybody! This is my blog for my students of 1st and 2nd year of ESO. Welcome everybody! This blog has the purpose of communicating important information (activities, exams...) to my students so that they keep track on what is going on our lessons. Besides, on the right side of this blog you will find the access to our general websites (General Website TPR1 and General Website TPR2) from which you all can complete the activities we do at school. Unit 4 (Electricity): Class Activities
Hi everyone! We are starting Unit 4 (Electricity) this week. So we will be working on class
activities (first session) in the workshop and ICT activities in the Computer Room.
For the first session you need two balloons, 1 m of string, 12 paper clips and a piece of cardboard. For the second session (next week) you have to bring the material the picture below shows (electrical kit): a 4,5 volt battery, a bulb (and a bulb holder) and connecting wires. You will use these materials in the second class activity as well as the final project at the end of the unit. Good luck.

Unit 3 (Materials): Completing the unit and Exams
Hi everybody! We have two weeks left to finish this unit. This week we are completing the workshop activity and the last session in the computer room. Next week (only three days), we will be doing the debrief session and we will start Unit 4 (Electricity). After the bank holiday you will do the exam for this unit:
- groups A and C on the 19th,
- groups B and D on the 20th and
- group E on the 22nd.

Unit 3 (Materials): Activities for the unit
Hi everybody! We are now working on Unit 3 and completed the first week (3 sessions out of 18). This unit is all about the objects we use to perform a certain task, these objects are made of materials, and the materials have properties. What we need to learn is how to link tasks and object's properties. As you all know, in this unit we have the following activities:
- Class Activities (6 sessions) in the classroom, around the school and 1 session in the workshop
- What do you know about materials (warm-up activity)
- Properties of materials (card-game activity)
- The Jumble Box (it includes Spaghetti Challenge in the workshop)
- ICT Activities (6 sessions) in the computer room
- on-line activities with our general website
- activities using our virtual classroom
- Workshop Activities (4 sessions)
- Mars Exploration Rover, activity in which we have to select the appropriate materials to build the vehicles we need to use to reach Mars en explorer it.
- Debrief session, including the revision of the unit using our digital devices)
- Exam

Unit 1: Assessment Elements and marks
Hi everybody! This post is intended to remind you the different items we have to calculate our final mark for the unit. We have 6 different
elements:
- Class Activities (15%): your practical activities in pairs during the sessions in the classroom: the mystery bag and the string telephone.
- Workshop Activities (10%): the practical activity you did in the Workshop in pairs (3 sessions): Straw Bridges.
- ICT Activities (15%): the same activities you have in your workbook (virtual classroom) plus the on-line activities in our general website. You did these activities (in pairs) in 5 sessions in the Computer Room.
- Workbook Activities (10%): exercises in the Workbook to do in class and at home.
- Exam (50%): the exam you did individually (?) in the classroom.
- Extra (10%): Different ways of getting extra points: in the activities (class, workshop, ICT, workbook) and at home: The Parachute and the revision at Quizizz.

Unit 1 (Technology and Design): Class and ICT Activities
Hi there! We are starting Unit 1 this week in some groups. This unit is about the nature of technology and the steps of the technological process. In order to gain some knowledge about these two main topics we will do the following activities:
- Class activities in the classroom and around the school: 3 sessions plus 1 extra at home.
- ICT activities in the computer room: 4 sessions.
- Workbook activities in the classroom and computer room: 3 sessions.
- Workshop activities, so you will have the opportunity of putting in practice the steps of the technological process to build a straw bridge: 3 sessions.
- The debrief session (including the revision of the unit with our digital devices): 1 session.
- The exam: 1 session.

Hi everybody! Hi new students of Technology, Programming and Robotics (TPR). This is our blog for the first grade of ESO, both program and section students. Here you will find the activities you all will do in class, in the computer room and in the workshop. And some extra activities too, so to keep track of what we are doing in class, come and read the blog every now and then. Have a nice starting. See you in class.

End of quarter (trimester)
Hi everybody! Here you have the schedule (timetable) for the last 4 weeks we have before Christmas.
- At the moment, we are completing the second class activity (Isometric Projections). It is a 2-day activity in the classroom, so some of you are going to start the second session (CA2) meanwhile (in the meantime) others will be doing the first session (CA1) on Monday.
- After finishing that activity you all will be working on the project for this unit: The Tangram Project. This is a workshop activity (WS) we will be doing individually in the classroom for two days (WS1, WS2). The materials you need are of the same kind you used for the class activities: 4 pieces of cardboard, glue stick, scissors and drawing tools.
- And just between these two activities, you will be completing the computer activities (IT). You have already done two sessions while I was in Norwich, so now you have two sessions left (IT3 and IT4).
- You will be taking the exam during the third of these 4 weeks. It will be an exam for Units 1 and 2, 50% each unit.

Unit 2 (Graphic Communication): Activities
Hi everybody! This week we are resuming the activities for Unit 2. You have been working on Unit 2 for three weeks (two and a half, actually) during my trip so we are going to spend another 2 weeks to finish those activities:
- 2 sessions in the computer room
- 2 sessions for the class activities (trihedral plane)
- 2 sessions for the project (in the classroom)
- 1 session to review the workbook

Units 1 and 2
Hi everybody! After a month (4 weeks actually) in Norwich (United Kingdom), here we are to go on with our activities. You have been working on the activities of Unit 2 related to graphic design (technical drawing) for the last 3 weeks and, as you know, I resumed the activities for Unit 1 last Monday. We still have 6 sessions left in this unit: 2 sessions in the computer room, 3 sessions to complete the project of the unit and 1 session for reviewing everything.

Unit 5 (Computers and the Internet): Exam
Hi! As you all know, those who have not to retake any exam, you will do an on-line exam of Unit 5 using our Virtual Classroom. The exam consists of 6 questions: 3 about the devices we need to connect to the Internet from home and another 3 questions about the Internet itself. Final exam. June 2016
Hi everybody! We are getting to the end of year (the academic year) and next week (the 15th and 16th of June) we will be doing our last exam:
- For those who did not pass two terms (evaluations) you will have to take a global exam.Do not forget your drawing tools.
- For those who did not pass one term (evaluation) you will retake the exam (most of you, only the third term)
- The rest of you will do an on-line exam in the Computer Room (Units 5 & 6)
- Unit 1 (Technology and Design): steps of the technological process and solutions to solve problems
- Unit 2 (Graphical Communication): measuring with the ruler, parallel and perpendicular lines, views of an object
- Unit 3 (Materials): classification, properties and objects and their materials
- Unit 4 (Electricity): circuit diagrams, electric circuits (connections), symbols and types of connections
- Units 5&6 (Internet and Programming): devices we need to connect to the Internet and elements of a web page.

Unit 2 (Graphic Communication): Extra HomeWork
Hi! Here you have the opportunity to get 5 extra points for this Unit 2. The only thing you have to do is to download the PDF file with the instructions to design a package. Remember that we are using technical drawing to develop some steps in the technological process. In this activity you will make the final object (product) more attractive. See you in class.

End of year. 2015 September Global Exam
As you know students who didn’t pass the course in June, you will have to take a global exam in September. In this exam you will be asked to answer questions about the seven units we have studied this year. You will need to get at least 5 out of 10 points in the exam to pass. In order to prepare for the exam, you must complete the classroom activities and the IT Activities I have posted on my blog. You will find a selection of these activities in the exam . Good luck.
