Unit 2 (Graphic Communication): Exam

Hi there! As you already know, you will be sitting the exam of this Unit 2 next Monday, the 21st of December. In this exam you will be asked for the name of tools and material used during the class activities, measurements, how to draw parallel and perpendicular lines, angles (measuring and drawing), how to draw circles, squares and rectangles, views of an object and one exercise taken form the IT Activities (1,2,3, 4 or 18). Unit 2 (Graphic Communication): Extra HomeWork

Hi! Here you have the opportunity to get 5 extra points for this Unit 2. The only thing you have to do is to download the PDF file with the instructions to design a package. Remember that we are using technical drawing to develop some steps in the technological process. In this activity you will make the final object (product) more attractive. See you in class.

The Unit2' IT activities will be available for you until the day of the exam. End of year. 2015 September Global Exam

As you know students who didn’t pass the course in June, you will have to take a global exam in September. In this exam you will be asked to answer questions about the seven units we have studied this year. You will need to get at least 5 out of 10 points in the exam to pass. In order to prepare for the exam, you must complete the classroom activities and the IT Activities I have posted on my blog. You will find a selection of these activities in the exam . Good luck. Unit 5 (Energies): Solutions to the Classroom Activities

Hi there! Next Monday both classes are taking the exam on Energies. Most of the questions you are going to be asked are in your Workbook and the solutions to these activities are shown in the presentation below and here. The main points in the exam are: energy transformation, how power plants (nuclear, wind turbine) work, forms of energy, heat engines (four-stroke engine), and little more. Good luck.

Unit 5 (Energies): Workshop activities

Hi everybody! As you all probably know, next week we will go to the workshop (2 sessions) to construct a balloon-propelled car (Energy's unit project). You are going to work in pairs and the materials needed for the project are:

• 1 A4 cardboard
• 1 balloon
•  2 drinking straws
• 4 plastic bottle caps with small hole drilled in centre of each
• 1 wooden skewer
• 1 piece of corrugated cardboard
• glue stick
• 1 piece of wire (bread tie)

 You will also need a pair of scissors and a ruler. The picture below (click on the picture to enlarge) shows a car made by former students. Besides the construction of the car, you will have to make some experiments (second session) in order to study the energy transformation. I hope you like it. See you.

Hi there. Those who entered Virtual Classroom know that the Classroom Activities are available to complete. Here you have them to practice before doing the exam. Next week we will be working in the workshop (2 sessions) and in the classroom (finishing these activities). The exam will be next Monday 27th.

Unit 5 (Energies): Introduction

Hi everybody! As you all know we are now working on Energies, Unit 5. This unit is about the different forms of energy, its conversion, classification and thermal engines. After easter holidays, we will spend two sessions in the computer room working on our IT Activities, another two sessions with the Classroom Activities and another two sessions more in the Workshop assembling a self propelled vehicle. Unit 4 (Mechanisms): Exam

Hi everybody! As you all know, we will be taking the exam of  Mechanisms this week. In the exam you will be asked questions about different mechanisms such as the type of input motion, the direction of rotation, the velocity ratio, etc. In order to practice I prepared for you the following animation. Unit 4 (Mechanisms): ClassRoom Activities

Hi everybody! As I told you in class, I want you to try to improve your knowledge on Technology contents by introducing a small change in the methodology: from now on we will spend two sessions on completing the Classroom Activities in the Computer Room (besides spending another two sessions on completing them using the Workbook). First we will do the online version of these activities and after that, the written one. We will see how it works.

Unit 3 (Structures): Classroom Activities

Hello! This week we will be finishing the Workshop Activities and the theory of the unit. We will have left one session and a half to work on the Workbook Activities and another session in the Computer Room to complete the IT Activities. I believe you will sit the exam over the second week of February. Classroom Activities are already published in our Virtual Classroom and here to practice them. See you all in class

Unit 3 (Structures): IT Activities

Hi again! Here you have the IT Activities for practising before going to the Computer Room. We will spend 2 sessions starting the coming Monday (group B). Do not forget to access our Virtual Classroom to get some extra points. Cheer up!

Unit 3 (Structures): Workshop activities

High everybody and happy new year. As you all know, next week we will be spending the first session (out of two) in the workshop. You will work in pairs to construct a structure (lightweight, stable and resistant) using plastic straws. The material you have to bring to the workshop includes

• a pack of plastic straws (perhaps you will need 30)
• sticky tape (sellotape)
• a paper clip
• a pair of scissors and a ruler
• a plastic bag to keep the structure (between sessions)

If you have time to spare, you ought to strengthen the structure by triangulation (in the second session). For this, you will need a cardboard (from a shoebox, for instance), glue and drawing tools (a pencil, a ruler and a compass).The animation below (and here) shows the final structure and the instructions to follow).
